Your Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor and Foreman, the Labourer assists with various tasks during the preproduction and production phases of projects. This includes taking measurements and calculating the amounts of material needed. During the construction phase, labourers will assist the crew with day-to-day responsibilities and follow instructions carefully. Labourers will need to be comfortable in both independent and team environments. They will demonstrate their interest in the carpentry trade by watching, listening, learning, asking questions and applying the methods taught. The ideal candidate shows initiative to effectively complete projects and demonstrates self-investment by consistently expanding their skill set.
Your Responsibilities

Required to have your own CSA-approved work boots, hardhat, safety glasses and gloves.

Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements.

Assist supervisor and foreman in daily tasks.

Clean and maintain worksites.

Use equipment to dismantle old forms and structures.

Handle and transport materials and equipment.
-
Use power tools when required.
-
Mix, pour, spread, level and smooth concrete and other materials.

Help set up and transfer temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding).

Collect and organize salvaged materials.

Assist carpenters with framing buildings and erecting walls.

Assist operators to prepare for their duties.

Direct traffic at or near the worksite.

Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
Your Qualifications and Skills
-
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds etc.)

Good understanding of construction operations and processes.

Good understanding of the Ontario Building Code.

Required to follow safety guidelines at all times.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.
-
Good hand-eye coordination.
-
Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
-
Good understanding of basic math.
-
Worker shows investment in themselves and their trade.
-
Familiarity with power tools and machinery is considered an asset.

Prior construction experience is considered an asset

Your Working Conditions
At Laframboise Construction, we work during all seasons of the year. This can require working in the heat of the summer and cold in the winters. It is very irregular to work on a weekend unless deadlines or projects require it and we have approval of the employee and customer.
Physical requirements
You will be required to lift objects up to 50lbs.
