Your Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager & Owner, the Project Manager/Estimator initiates lines of contact with potential clients and informs them of options that align with Laframboise Construction’s standards. Following consultations, the estimator must also communicate any relevant information to senior management and have projects approved. They will record and detail all the project’s requirements so that costs and timelines can be planned properly. As the development process goes on, the Project Manager/Estimator will remain available for any questions or concerns expressed by the client or the staff.

The Project Manager/Estimator must be open to adjusting their schedule based on customer needs and meeting project deadlines.

Your Responsibilities

  • Communicates with Office Manager to navigate appointments with clients.

  • Stays up to date with all products and services offered by the company.

  • Meets clients to discuss potential projects.

  • Collects all relevant information from clients in order to accurately assess projects.

  • Informs clients of all available options in order to provide the most optimal service.

  • Evaluate job sites and their requirements with the use of measurements, pictures and videos.

  • Communicate with the operations manager and project coordinator to prepare for upcoming projects.

  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements.

  • Use a computer proficiently in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Utilize estimate software to accurately assess customer needs.

  • Assembles an inventory for all project requirements.

  • Inputs required data into an estimator template using excel.

  • Develops budgets for projects.

  • Foresees project timelines based on the needs of the project.

  • Ensures that the necessary permits are processed in a timely manner.

  • Navigates through the proper channels in the event that a variance is needed.

  • Maintains a line of contact with all clients to continuously assess their project needs.

  • Visits job sites when needed.

  • Required to have your own CSA-approved work boots, hardhat, safety glasses and gloves (when necessary).

  • Monitoring worker productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching.

  • Communicates with workers to help them meet project requirements.

Your Qualifications and Skills

  • Construction experience.

  • Customer service experience.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledgeable with products and development costs.

  • Strong business sense and industry expertise.

  • Able to draw up estimates and quotes in exceptional detail.

  • Capable of creating budgets and project timelines.

  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle to visit projects and clients.

  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.

  • Good understanding of basic math.

  • A diploma in Construction Engineering in Technology or Construction Management is an asset.

Your Working Conditions

At Laframboise Construction, we work during all seasons of the year. This can require working in the heat of the summer and cold in the winters. It is very irregular to work on a weekend unless deadlines or projects require it and we have the approval of the employee and customer.

Physical requirements

You will be required to lift objects up to 50lbs.
